MD74HR Heading Data LCD Flashing

A flashing display usually occurs due to the MD74HR sensing invalid or loss of data. If the flashing occurs just before receiving a new updated sentence, this is signalling that the data rate is too slow.

Marine Data suggest you increase the data rate to at least 5 messages per second. Alternatively, your gyro (or other heading source) may have a 38400 baud heading data output, with a data rate of at least 50/second. This would also be suitable for connection of the MD74HR.

As a reminder, the MD74HR is suitable for heading source outputting at 4800 / 9600 / 19200 / 38400 Baud.
