The MD69BR, compass bearing repeater is the mariners preferred choice for taking celestial and terrestrial bearings.
Featuring a dual-scale, 36 to 1 precision concentric scale, also known as x10, x36 or Twin-Speed.
The centre vernier dial has graduations of 0.1 degrees and overall accuracy of better than 0.01 degrees. With a fast turning ship, the MD69BR, can follow-up to a rate of 20 degrees per second.
Gimballed and balanced for our range of bearing sights allowing gimbal action up to 45 degrees.
Automatic selection and prioritisation of N.M.E.A. 0183 heading data type with the loss of valid heading data warning.
Heading source indication is shown by a Blue or Yellow L.E.D. for either True or magnetic heading.
Both compass scales are illuminated with red L.E.D.s and can be dimmed by either integrated or remote control.
Marine Data offer various mounting options, suitable for inside the bridge, outer wings or any exterior deck environments.
Supplied as standard is a Trunnion Bracket, however, the MD69/22 Bulkhead bracket is recommended for bulkhead or gunwale mounting.
The MD69/21, Pelorus Stand is a popular option within the bridge or outer wings. Constructed from Glass-Fibre Reinforced Plastic, known as GRP, makes it incredibly strong, lightweight and easy to install.
The Bowl only option, MD69BR/BO, can be surface mounted into a console if a large dual-scale heading repeater is required.
Finished in RAL7040 Window Grey, Semi-Gloss powder coat, ideally suited to naval standard colours and conveniently colour coordinated with our range of weatherproof products.
The heading data input is R.S.422, N.M.E.A. 0183, with data rates from the standard 4,800 Baud to the faster 38,400 Baud.
As you would expect with all the Marine Data products, the MD69 range, have been certified to the most rigorous standards.
Tested by TÜV and Type Approved by DNVGL, the MD69BR also conforms to military environmental standards.
The bearing repeater’s weatherproof marinised construction, has a protection rating of IPX6, so it can endure high-pressure water jets, equivalent to harsh sea-state conditions.
For taking accurate compass bearings, you will need to use one of our bearing sights.
For short range targets, the MD69BC Bearing Circle includes sighting vanes and shadow pin.
Short to medium range targets, is where the MD69AZI excels. It’s a Thomson Pattern Azimuth Sight and includes sun filters to assist the observer in taking terrestrial and celestial compass bearings.
For detailed, medium to long-range terrestrial azimuth measurements, our MD60A2K16 Precision Telescopic Alidade is the preferred option.
The 7x magnification and exceptionally high-quality optics, makes it favourable for use on all naval ships in the defence sector.
